The day was May 2, 2009 when one of the members of the class of Deacons of the seminary of St. Meinrad was ordained to the presbyterate at his own monastic community of Saint Bernard Abbey in Cullman, Alabama.
It was fortunate and perfect for us, student monks of St Meinrad seminary, to be able to attend the ceremony because the day was a Saturday and was therefore not a school day.
Prior to the big day of Bro. Bede Marcy, OSB, the five of us -all student monks of St Meinrad seminary, Bro Aaron Brunner, OSB, Bro Romain Botta, OSB, Bro Anthohy Baker, OSB, Bro Paulavang, OSB and yours truly- left the seminary on Friday of 1Pm, a day before the ordination.
The long drive to Alabama did not exhaust the five of us who were packed in one small rented car, just so we make it to the ordination day. The rented car was made available for us thu Bro Aaron's kindness.
The 5-hour drive to Alabama was a fun-filled road trip. On the way to Alabama, we dropped at Nashville, Tennessee and met a couple who were friends of Bro Aaron who were also from Switzerland, his home country.
The meeting was a delightful one, and it was delightful not only because we were given a treat in our stop-over evening meal, but we were able to get acquainted with, and make friends with the couple, Attila and Sarah.
