the Catechism of the Catholic Church states that:
the first precept ("you shall attend Mass on Sundays and on holy days of obligation and rest from servile labor") requires the faithful to sanctify the day commemorating the Resurrection of the Lord... by participating in the Eucharistic celebration, in which the Christian community is gathered....
The Mass obligation is an application othe "Sabbath principle", which was instituted by God when he gave the Ten Commandments to Moses. The third Commandment was "Remember to keep holy the sabbath day".
The Sabbath was to be a day of rest, dedicated to the Lord and to worship, based on the rest of the Lord on the seventh day, after He created the heavens and the earth.
Simply put, the Mass obligation is for the purpose of stressing the high importance of worship and Church attendance.
The Christian shouldn't regard going to Church as an optional thing.
It is a great honor and a necessity.
The earliest Christians started to observe the Sabbath on Sunday rather than Saturday, because this was "the Lord's day", when Jesus rose from the dead.
Church attendance on holy days of obligation is also required , in accordance with their supreme importance.
Failure to observe these obigations, apart from a serious reason, is a mortal sin.

Aha! Bagong-bago pa lang :)
Good morning sayo dyan, kuya! I hope maganda ang iyong gising and naka-smile ka dyan :)
May question ako, kuya. Does Sabbath really have to be on Sundays? What about the other religions? And what about us Catholics who go to mass on Saturdays for the anticipated mass?
Yung family kasi namin nasanay na Saturday nagsisimba kasi di hamak na tahimik sa church and nakasanayan namin when my mom got sick.
Paano yun, kuya? :)
Mwah!
kuya...
very clear ang post mo skn ngaun kuya... thnx!
happy tuesday!

@sasha
ey sashing--yung simba ng hapon ng sabado ay anticipated Mass yun for Sunday..so, it does not bring anyone to any commission of sin as even us, monks nuns, priests and other forms of religious congregations use Saturday afternoon as an anticipation to the holy day which is Sunday....
yung mga ibang denominations, their belief makes them get saved...like yung Sabadista, ang itinuturo sa kanila na interpretasyun sa Bible ay sabado ang holy day...it's fine...what matters most is the intention and the heart to it--eh mas malala naman yung sa Sunday nga nag aatend ng Mass pero wala naman sa utak at puso ang mga kaganapan sa Mass kundi walang ginwa makipag tsismisan or mag pa tsarming..ay batu bato po sa Langit , wag magalit ang matatamaan..hindi ko sinasasdya... i am only trying to elucidate here the issue brought.
your family is doing very fine- matindi ang rason nila para gawing anticipated Saturday ang holy day of obligation nila, as what you have mentionesd...
@vera
the sin gets committed pag ang tao ay madaming dahilan, oras at pagkakataon na magsimba pero hindi nya magawa dahil natatamad, or nababagot, but if one is tied up and the reason for not being able to make it to Sunday Mass is valid and very reasonable- or a matter of life and death or sickness...then he or she is not committing any sin.
kuya...
godd afternoon!
@vera
kuya...
