Dom Rodrigo in his old self...
Dom Rodrigo, my neighbor, best buddy and my monastic brother during his latest family visit.
there is so much life for this guy, yet he chose to be celibate, live in the cloister and be a monk in the service of God till the rest of his life, just like me.
like dom rodrigo, i only get to breathe different air, taste and have the feel of the outside world once a year in 19 days inclusive of travel time. So we make the most of our time during this short span of days.--make appointments successful...see and talk to friends we want to see... talk with family members...dine out with them... eat foods we do not eat inside the cloister... and wear ordinary get ups we couldn't wear inside the cloister...- in just 19 days a year!!!!

Grabe, 19 days a year lang ang bakasyon niyo, kuya? Ang ikli pala ano? Pero mabuti na ang 19 days kesa wala heheheh
@sasha
ay noon yun-pero ang recent customary namin about home visit duration ay 25 days na--- di ba nagdagdag naman ng ilang days..mainam na ngayun kesa wala-at saka kasi sinsiguro lang ng mga superiors namin yun lang ang days na ilalagi namin para hindi kami mabaliw sa kalakaran ng outside world--tama sila...kasi nga naman pag nagtagal pa kami ay andiyan ang pwedeng ma hook kami sa mga tukso ng mundo--or magkasakit kami ng monastic homesickness--dahil hindi normal takbo ng buhay namin sa labas- walang community life- walang 8 times a day prayers---so very vulnerable talaga ang isang tulad ko pag nakalabas ng aming mundo--isa pa, ang inconsistencies ng mundo ay talamak- what will a monk do in a world na ang flow of activities for the day ay napaka un-structure?...our life inside is so structured--lahat nakaplano--ang gagawin ko bukas ay nakaplano at ang buong week ay nakaplano--pag ay nadiskarel man sa isa sa mga naiplano na,ay doon kami nagakaproblema--malaking problema...how much more sa mundo nyo na ang araw ay dumadaan na walang structure?....so crazy talaga.....
