....because in our Customary, it states that monks do hold parties in the entire year....
...because aside from our regular once-a-month-party with the community of the Benedictine nuns (our neighbor) which we simply call 'recreation', we do party and frolick on a celebration of Solemnities of saints in the whole liturgical year...how many Solemnities do we celebrate in the entire year? lots of them, i tell you....
...and one of them was the celebration we just had last june 24th, which was the Solemnity of the birth of St John The Baptist ( and mind you, there is another one coming up next!...and that's the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul on June 29th -Friday, that's why today, i was in town from morning til evening to shop for the food and ingredients that i am gonna use for the preparation of the banquet that we will have in honor of the two saints ).
going back to what i was trying to tell you here... in the evening of a Solemnity, the monks gather together in the Refectory to hold their evening party, and such won't be alive and complete without the presence of the nuns of our neighboring Benedictine monastery for women...the sisters of Our Lady of the Desert.(just a mile away from our main Cloister building).
so, last june 24th evening was another evening to remember for all of us both monks and nuns...
...and with the presence of our special guests- Fr james Castro of the Philippine Claretian Congregation and Pastor Keas Keasler of the Miami Roots Protestant Church in Florida, we frolicked...we got drunk...(but specifically, i did not get drunk, because i wanted not to ) and we did enjoy the party so much as we filled the refectory with so much fun and laughter amidst food and drinks of both sodas and liqour as well...
...indeed, such was a breather from the rigid and tough kind of daily routine in a well-structured monastic life that we have in our monastery....

then followed the evening party of food and drinks ( tequila, gin and tonic, vodka, porto wine, heineken, corona, budweiser, coke diet, sprite, pepsi, and finger foods like chips and creams...)
and when everybody gets so carried away by the fun and enjoyment of the ambience it offers, an 'unexpected' number to entertain the assembly would suddenly break the laughter and cheers of the ongoing party...

hahahaah- si padre luis ay taga cagayan de oro city- he came from the Monastery of Transfiguration in Malaybalay Bukidnon, another Benedictine monastery (where the famous Gang Gomez is now a solemnly professed monk-) and transferred his vows here.
oo nga eh- talagang walang tigil buong taon yan hanggang sa xmas...
ay oo- talagang strict si Fr Josephgabriel- na ngayun ay nasa Polokwane, South Africa- helping another Benedictine monastery there-and he was made the Prior of the community!...well, pag andito ka na sa Tate, madali mo ng magagawa ang ma meet siya thru me hahahah...
ay oo, mahaba talaga mga kuko ng digoy na yan--- he is my neighbor and we share one CR- na nasa gitna ng aming rooms--that is located in an anti room separating mine to his- at may kanya kanya kaming door to our private room...
ngeksss--hindi naman ako pa cute eh--ayaw ko lang ma expose masyado kasi i was shy camera then eh hahahahaha....
buti naman kung nag enjoy ka sa movie and if you get inspired..... yung susunod na ipapadala ko ay yung dvd ng Brother Sun, Sister Moon.... gud day saiyo kapatid....ingats lagi dyan!...

hahahaha-that was a very famous line from fr joseph gabriel....at talagang namatay kaming lahat sa katatawa doon sa eksenang pinatatayo nya ang makulit na si alex.... at the middle of the consecration.
sarap naman ng food. kayo po nagluto? naalala ko 2loy nung sinama ako ng tito kong priest sa party nila. dami ring chibog. mas memorable yung medyo na-lasing c tito at sumayaw habang nagsasalita sa microphone. nakakatuwa 2loy isipin. buti di kayo na-lasing at nagsasasayaw dun. ehehe. :D

hahahahah--kaya nga ayaw ko na maglasing at baka makalimot ako sa sarili ko ay di ko namamalayan nag sasasayaw na pala ako dun sa gitna ng mga madre bwhahahahaha----..masarap talaga ang buhay monghe--pasawa sa pagkain....heheheh...
we (the best cooks..asus heheh) actually take turns in cooking for Solemnities...it was marcus' turn to cook since it was his renewal of his vows...my turn to cook will be on friday---tomorrow....

yeah- i guess it is...it's just one of the perks of life inside an isolated Cloister...and its awesome!-at korek si bro vince sa sinabi nya na--- talagang masaya sa loob ng aming mundo na hiwalay sa buong mundo--- in terms of proximity, ay talagang isolated kami from the rest of humanity and civilization...pero dahil may sarili kaming mundo- kelangan naming maging autonomous-== sariling sikap bah or self supporting so to speak--may sarili kaming kuryente- from Solar panels na humihigop ng init ng araw dito sa disiyerto, --may sarili kaming satellite source ng internet at telepono- at may sarili kaming source ng inuming tubig- thru our reverse osmosis purifying machines and water for dish and clothes washing--- hahahahaha-talagang very autonomus ang buhay namin sa loob---....
