where did the Bible come from and what is its role in the Catholic Faith?

the Bible contains no table of contents. In other words, the list of books in a Bible is not itself a part of the Bible and not inspired (or, literally, "God-breathed"). The Bible didn't come down out of heaven from God, whole and entire, like the Ten Commandments.

it was written by men (who were supernaturally inspired by God) over hundreds of years, and then acknowledged as a whole by men as God's written revelation.

though there was broad agreement in the early Church as to which books belonged in the Bible, it was not absolute.

Some important Church fathers regarded books currently in the canon of the Bible as unscriptural. others(equally eminent) thought that books not now in the canon were part of the inspired revelation.

the first Church father to list the currently accepted twenty-seven New Testament books was St. Athanasius in 367.

the canons of the New Testament and the Old Testament were determined by human CHurch authority at the Council of Carthage in 397.

this provides a difficulty for those who believe in the notion of sola Scriptura ("Scripture alone") as the sole ultimate authority in Christianity, apart from the equally necessary presence of the Church and apostolic Traditrion.

ah basta nakikinig ka lang sa gospel readings at sa first readings ay ayos na yan -dahil ang mga readings na yan ay galing din sa Bible passages ng Old Testament at New Testament-
ang first reading sa Sunday mass ay galing sa Old Testament at ang Gospel Reading ay galing sa New Testament specifically sa Synoptic Gospels- or what we call the Gospels of Luke, Matthew and Mark...stand by ka lang sa bahay ko at pag wala din lang na okasyun dito sa amin ay mag po post ako ng mga bagay bagay na dapat mong malaman about catholic faith..

Alam mo kuya, I'm really sorry to say this pero I was a skeptic talaga when it comes to the Bible. Kasi what if these are just really great writers who thought these things and all? Pero that WAS then ha. I don't know what convinced me. Siguro yung lectures ng friend ko hehe...

Pero is there really a basis for these books, kuya?

Happy Sunday! :) May 3 pa akong pending tapos matutulog na muna uli ako heheheh...

@sasha

hello sis sashing,
yeah, meron naman silang basis daw...and one of them were the accounts of the early evangelists at the time of Jesus' death and after His death, they started to spread His teachings and the wrote these accounts in any way they could... and these writings were preserved and translated from one generation to the next..the other basis they used was the tradition -which was called Judaeo-Christian Tradition which at the time of Jesus death, and after His death, were handed down from one generation to the next and so on and so forth.... so these two strong evidences and basis were the ones used in collecting the books of the Bible.
wow--- sis, ii can't believe pa rin na kumikita ka ng dollars thru your blog.....sige , pagbutihin mo sis ang mga sponsored posts mo heheheh..Happy Sunday morning.
