first home visit in 2003

in our customary practice, a man seeking for acceptance to the community has to undergo stages of monastic formation.
The initial stage is to live life in accordance with the Holy Rule of Saint Benedict and the customary of the house as postulant.

after six months of postulancy, he starts with his noviatiate and hurdles the year-long life in the community as novice.

After his novitiate and he's proven to be worthy of the community's expectations, he then takes his first Vows. This is monastically known as Simple Vows ( temporary in nature and is renewable every year not exceeding three consecutive years ).

after three years and he is proven to be the monk who really seeks for God.... etc etc etc..and after voted upon and accepted, he then takes his Solemn Vows ( or Perpetual Vows ).this is binding. and irrevocable.

(NOTE: Once a monk in Solemn Vows decides to leave the monastery for good, he just can't leave as easy as that... he needs the approval of the Pope , a dispensation from him is sought before the monk can live a normal life again outside, back in the world.)

in year 2003, after taking my Simple Vows, i was allowed to go home for a home visit.
and this was the time when i went and visited a lady friend whom i only met in the net....in year 2002, and in the course of time, we became familiar with each other and finally became good friends...

the month-long home visit to the Philippines gave me chance to go and visit her in her hometown. The day i came over her place was also their 'town fiesta' -feast celebration in honor of their town's patron saint.

the two days that i stayed with her gave me so much enjoyment especially when her group of friends came over and were introduced to me...

that night of the feast day itself was truly an unforgetable one for me....because that was the first time i tasted their kind of wine they call "lambanog" in different flavors...

the night did not pass without me not passing out from too much lambanog....

a collage-sort-of of images will show you how i danced...- how i sang...-and how i faced up with my friend's "tropang kulitz".

@bluepanjeet,

hey tol, oo nga- sa inyo nga yan..lam mo naman ako hahahah-talagang may pagka samuel belebeth--lagalag na lagalag at kung saan saan napapasuot....si cynz ay ka chat ko sa pinoy chat noon- uso pa noon ang chat sites sa yahoo rooms at sa mismong pinoy chat central- i was browsing somem chat sites ng mapapunta ako sa isang pinoy chat- and i met her. she could not believe that i was a monk--so, to see is to believe daw--kaya nung nagpista sa kanila in september ay nataon naman na first time na home visit ko yun-kaya i grabbed the chance to meet her and stay overnight at her place--- then nung araw na dumating ako ay nagpunta kami doon sa resto na kamayan- where the fish are freshly cooked from the lagoon...that was very memorable to me----oy wala pa ba yung package?...
