If we trust the truth, there will always be warning bells and whistles going off our minds, and that sick feeling in our stomachs. We weren't created to lie. The ninth commandment makes it clear: don't give false testimony, In other words, don't lie.
So the only reasonable choice for any of us is to stop lying. Now. Completely. If we have even the slightest tendency to distort the truth- and who among us doesn't?- we need to say, From this forward I purpose in my heart, with the help of God, to speak only the truth always in every situation, for the rest of my life. Such a commitment will inevitably improve our relationship with God and with everyone else. But must be willing to draw a line in the sand and say, Enough! No more half- truths No more exaggerations. No more verbal twisting of reality. No more lies! God will honor the faith-building decision like that one!
